Celebration Event 17th June 2017

On 17th June 2017 we will be holding a celebration event for all those who have contributed to the success of the project. All our interviewees and other contributors have been invited to the event at Great Witley Village Hall where we will showcase our collection of recordings, photographs and website. The event will also include a talk by Jo Loosemore of the BBC Listening Project, and be supported by Harriet Baldwin MP, County Councillor Ken Pollock, and District Councillor Paul Cumming.

Abberley Hall Visit

Members of the Witleys Oral History Group and local residents were given a tour of Abberley Hall & Clock Tower.  The tour was conducted by Jo Roach a local historian who gave the group a fascinating insight into the history of the Hall.  The tour culminated in a tour of the inside of the clock tower where we were able to film the action of the clock as it struck 6pm. That video is available to see on our page about the Abberley Clock Tower.

Ludlow & Tenbury Advertiser Article

Ludlow & Tenbury Advertiser published this article about our project to record the memories of local people and the history of Great Witley and Little Witley areas. The article was published under the heading ‘Project to provide new resource for historians in Tenbury and the Teme Valley’.

Map & Photos Collection published

Our collection of 8 maps and 183 photos kindly provided by local residents and other sources have now been digitised and are available on the website under the ‘View Archive’ menu. We will be adding more in the coming weeks and months.

If you have an old map, photo or document that you would like to add to our collection let us know and we will digitise in in high definition for everyone to enjoy.
